Right Relationships

Our Commission was officially launched by respected elder, the late Hazel McKellar in 2002.  From this time we have worked to build respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people in the Diocese.   Some of the ways that we do this are through:

Understanding and owning our shared History

Collaborating on Strengths and Needs analysis in communities

Promoting and Celebrating National Reconciliation Week

              Promoting and Celebrating NAIDOC week

Walking together with the Bishop's Aboriginal and Torres Strait
              Islander Reference Group

Supporting and Promoting the Close the Gap campaign

Supporting and Facilitating the Tiwi Island Immersion Trip 2009
